How clubs win sponsors with social media

Article 6 min read

Match day, team huddle

What sponsors quietly check on your pages before they commit to a season, and how to make that check an easy yes.

Before a sponsor signs, someone opens your page on their phone and scrolls for about fifteen seconds. That scroll decides more than the meeting does.

What they are actually checking

  • Did you post in the last week, or is the top post from last season?
  • Does the page look like the club, or like eight different people with eight different apps?
  • Do real people comment, or is it silence under every post?
  • How were last year's sponsors shown — proudly, or as a logo squeezed into a corner?

Make the check an easy yes

Fix the top nine posts first. That grid is your shop window and it is the only part most sponsors will ever look at closely.

Then show a sponsor being looked after. One genuinely good post featuring a current sponsor does more for next year's renewals than any pitch deck, because the next sponsor sees exactly what they would be buying.

What to send after the meeting

Reach, engaged accounts, and a screenshot of the best-performing sponsor post. Three numbers and one picture. Anything longer will not get read.
